Pocklington WTR v Wath Warriors Saturday 18th January.
We welcomed the WW’s to Percy Road for a curtain raiser before our respective First Teams. This was our first outing of 2025 and it proved to be a very enjoyable day for both Fans and Players. The game was evenly contested by two teams willing to play open flowing walking rugby. For Pock, some spectacular touchdowns from Dave Spanton, Huw Kane, Mick Strodder and our own Peter Pan, Tim Richardson. However, the pick of he tries came from coach, H, touching down for the first try of the afternoon. The Warriors also touched down for a bagful with former Bristol Combination scrum half, Martyn Bragg, grabbing a brace.
A trademark of Pocklington is hospitality, and we are grateful to Mark, Chris, Mick, and the army of volunteers who make these special days possible. I would like to extend a special thanks to Squad member and Referee, Andy Wynn, for again doing a fantastic job.
If you fancy getting involved in Walking Rugby, want to get fit and learn new skills (like all the ex forwards) then please come along to one of our practice sessions which take place at the Club, every Friday from 1-30 pm. It’s a great way to extend your career and social life. Open to all genders.
